FAQ

What’s this all about?

The Monarchist Blog (a name that perhaps lacks in creativity but certainly makes the point clear) is my effort at promoting the ideology and philosophy of benevolent monarchy to a wider audience.

Who are you?

I choose not to say. I would prefer my words to be judged on their merits. I believe that adding in details about myself and where I am from would only serve to deflect from what I am saying.

What makes your blog unique?

Most monarchist blogs are simply promoting the British monarchy, or monarchies from other similar countries. In particular, most focus on the European system of monarchy and its history. My blog is about promoting monarchy as a system of government in of itself and how it can be relevant today.

Do you oppose democracy?

Yes. I believe that monarchy, as a system of government, is superior to democracy. I do not believe that monarchists should be required to work alongside democracy in order to succeed.

What about constitutional monarchy?

The term has unfortunately been co-opted by democracy and become a misnomer. True constitutional monarchy is a monarchy with a constitution, just like the USA is a republic with a constitution. Yet in common parlance constitutional monarchy has taken to mean a democratic society with a figurehead. The UK, for example, is considered a constitutional monarchy, yet in reality it is a democracy and has no written constitution at all.

To answer the question, yes, I support monarchy with a constitution. I do not support democratic monarchies.
